Capcom could license a Devil May Cry film and rekindle the Resident Evil series of movies...
Japanese publisher Capcom has revealed that it's currently working out the contracts for a number of film offers that it has received at the Cannes Film Festival. Devil May Cry and Resident Evil are reportedly two of the licenses that Capcom wants to take advantage with any new deals.
Speaking to Bloomberg, Capcom's President Haruhiro Tsujimoto said, ``We are in the process of working out contracts for several offers we received at the Cannes Film Festival last week and hope to make an announcement soon. If realized, the projects will have a big impact on the game and movie industries.''
Tsujimoto also spoke of Capcom's strategy to emulate the success of Marvel in recent years. The comics giant has rejuvenated many of its superheroes on the big screen with huge successes at the box office. "We want to do with games what Marvel did with comics," Tsujimoto commented.
According to the reports, Capcom is eyeing its Resident Evil and Devil May Cry properties as possible candidates for the silver screen. Resident Evil has previously been made into a trilogy, with the third film being released last year.
Capcom and 20th Century Fox are currently at work on a jointly funded and produced Street Fighter film. The $40 million (£20.2 million) project, due out later this fiscal year, will go a long way to determining the prospects for Capcom's film ventures according to Tsujimoto.
