Capcom Announce Lost Planet News

Japanese publisher confirms its third title for the Xbox 360...

The first murmurings of Capcom teaming up with the acclaimed South Korean actor, Lee Byung Hun, appearing earlier in the month appear to have been spot on as the Japanese publisher today announced the development of Lost Planet for the Xbox 360.

Following the appearances of several key Japanese actors and not forgetting Jean Reno within the Onimusha series, Lost Planet is described as a sci-fi/action shooter whose main character, after being saved by Snow Pirates, goes on what remains of his memory to seek revenge against his father's betrayers through dangerous terrain and wildlife whilst finding out the hidden truths behind the frozen planet.

Capcom promises a truly dynamic and immersive world with visuals setting a new bar for realism, from the hyper-realistic character models to the world-class CG cut-scenes.

Although many are unlikely to know Mr. Lee Byung Hun's work his popularity across South Korea is broad, with appearances in several movies, TV dramas and commercials. Capcom's man-of-the-moment Kenji Inafune is currently heading the title, whilst also overseeing development on Resident Evil 5 and Shin Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams.

Lost Planet is slated for release during winter 2006; we'll have further coverage soon...
