Sony’s vice-president of R&D lets some details slip regarding the PS3.


Sony's vice president of R&D, Shinichi Okamoto recently let slip a few details regarding the supposedly not-in-development PS3. The machine will apparently be based upon a new type of technology for the CPU, dubbed the âCELLâ processor, and is currently being developed in conjunction with Toshiba and IBM. The chip is capable of 1 trillion FLOPS (floating operations per second), in comparison the Playstation2 computes 6.2 billion.

not true. mine jumped 50 to 100 and i have had no problems since the update. i just hope that theres patches coming out for trophies soon...

very cool as in dead and yes sony admitted the new firmware can potentially kill a ps3 if the download leaps from 50% to 100% instead of ie 51%52%53% ect
