Insomniac Games reveals how they're using the motion-sensitive PS3 pad...

Presumably just as surprised as everybody else by Sony's E3'06 announcement regarding the PlayStation3 motion-sensitive capabilities, it seems developers have been afforded just enough time to incorporate ideas for the system's November launch.

A recent demonstration of Insomniac Games' PS3 launch title, Resistance: The Fall of Man, provided to MTV has revealed the game's intended use of the PS3 joypad along with a few further details.

Speaking at the demonstration, Insomniac Games' Ryan Schneider quipped: "We are going to be supporting the tilt functionality of the PlayStation 3 controller," he said. "You're going to be able to shake off melee advances, and you'll be able to counter-strike with a rifle butt. And we're looking at other tricks as well."

Further details from the demonstration claim that the game's high-resolution assets and orchestral soundtrack put the game at over 22GB, which wouldn't be possible on Blu-ray's next-gen rival, HD-DVD. A SCEA representative also talked about the plans for online support with 40-player matches, 60 layers of player online progression and two-player offline co-op.

Resistance: Fall of Man will launch alongside the PlayStation3 on November 17th; look out for more on the title soon.

I am furious that the Curch is trying to ban this game, but Sony is trapped in a corner, the church has a case, this is actually copyright, but I don't give a damn, since when does religion have more power than people, it's people that make the relig... [ Read full comment... ]

Stupid. The game has nothing to do with guncrime it is about soldiers saving the cathedral from aliens. The church is over reacting. A massacre in a church isn't horrifing it has happened before in real history. The game isn't reality, unless aliens ... [ Read full comment... ]

The only thing that surprises me by this is that the bishop actually knows how poorly the PS3 is doing compared to the rest of the market.
