Take a look at this impressive new driving game FROM Criterion on PlayStation2

Acclaim have just announced that they will be publishing Burnout developed by Criterion Games. The game will be out this November for the PlayStation2, and it's looking quite impressive to say the least.

Graphically things are looking very nice, take a look at these screenshots and admire the detail as well as the number of objects on screen. However being purdy is not what it's all about these days, some form of innovation is expected, unless the words Gran and Turismo are in the title.

What makes Burnout very interesting is the fact that you're racing through cities, but not in a rather sterile Metropolis Street Racer sense, no, these streets will be filled with civilian traffic - up to 300 vehicles per course. This means that as you race you have to be very careful, as one wrong move and your car will be totalled. Naturally the cars can be destroyed in a variety of ways and whatever you do will be visible on the car, or cars if you manage something very spectacular. With an instant replay that uses slow motion - bullet time style perhaps? - and you have something that could be very rewarding.

With 16 courses set in the United States, Europe and Asia there will be a great variety, and expect a few homageās to the classic car chase movies. The inclusion of civilian traffic and full car damage, with the emphasis on pure adrenaline - there is a heart monitor for your character - this could be an invigorating to have a blast with this winter.
