The makers of Operation Flashpoint unveil their latest developments...
Bohemia Interactive has today announced two titles that are currently under development. Both are untitled and are currently going under the monikers of âMilitary Sim (Working Title)â, but the move pretty much confirms the companyâs distancing from Operation Flashpoint publisher (and trademark holder), Codemasters.
The statement confirmed the following details of each of the two titles:
Military Sim (Working title) â“ Xbox
The title is set to present a fictitious conflict between NATO forces and a faction of the Soviet Army with immersive action with squad systems, realistic weaponry, and vehicles. The title is also set to include:
- Control over 40 true-to-life vehicles and aircraft
- Fight using any of 30+ authentic weapons
- Command a squad of troops
- Play two enthralling campaigns and 15 solo missions
- Explore 4 sprawling 100+ km2 battle zones
- Create your own scenarios using the built-in mission editor
- Engage live opponents via Xbox Live or system link in over 50 different missions
Military Sim (Working Title) â“ PC
The PC title is intended for the next-generation computer as is set for launch the fourth quarter of 2006. Set in 2010, the game follows an international coalition around Europe and Asia and offers large scale worlds with exceptionally detailed environments, weapons, and vehicles. Military Sim is also set to include comprehensive single-player and multi-player modes that create most realistic combat simulation yet. The statement also includes the following breakdown of the game:
- The most accurate military simulation to date in an action game
- The ultimate combination of action, role playing and strategy elements
- Authentic and insanely detailed representation of all gear and vehicles
- Take part in realistic large scale military operations, in a near future setting
- Extremely large and detailed maps
- Proprietary next generation engine
- Full multiplayer support for online combat
- Customisable game with built-in mission editor
In addition to that, BIS has also confirmed the Q4 2005 release of Armed Assault, which features a brand new engine in an contemporary setting and a brand new storyline. The game, which is set for the PC, will also include a 100 square kilometre map, multiplayer support, an in-game map editor, and multiplayer options.
TVG managed to get a glimpse of the next-gen PC title and the Xbox title at E3. Weâll have a preview of the Xbox title shortly, and weâll have more news on all three Bohemia titles soon.
