First match-up between the two next-gen technologies strikes a win for Blu-Ray...


The ongoing war of attrition between Blu-Ray and HD-DVD is one thing that weâve certainly been keeping a close eye on at TVG in recent months; first we had HD-DVD backers Toshiba commenting that a consolidation between the two formats is inevitable, before SCEIâs Ken Kutaragi stated that such a move would be unlikely â“ now it seems that Sonyâs next-generation optical disc format has drawn first blood in the form of a poll conducted by strategic polling firm, Penn, Schoen and Berland Associates.

In the US conducted poll of 1200 consumers, Blu-Ray was found to be preferable by 58% in a side-by-side comparison of the two formats with 16% preferring HD-DVD and 26% undecided.

Weâll continue to keep an eye out for the latest developments as the battle lines are drawn between Blu-Ray and HD-DVD soon...

this a good thing over 9 yrs it will happen folk wiil soon tire of wii's and the xbox(which is nearly all shooters, fun 4 a while, but ps3 does more in all ways
