Blizzard Bans WoW Accounts Over Trading News

Zero tolerance on exchanging virtual gold for real world cash by Blizzard leaves 1000 banned WoW accounts...

Blizzard Entertainment has today posted on the World of Warcraft forums announcing a zero tolerance clampdown on real-world trading in the game, a move that has left 1000 participants banned from the MMORPG.

The practice involves the selling of in-game items for real-world cash via sites including eBay, and whilst this has been happening in other MMORPG titles such as Ultima and Everquest, the practice has been clamped down heavily by the WoW developers.

The statement advises that, âBlizzard Entertainment will take any and all actions necessary to stop this behaviourâ¦ Blizzard Entertainment reserves its right to pursue legal action against you as well.â

And itâs not just the sellers who are being punished; buyers have also been warned in the statement: âPlease understand that if you do purchase in-game property from sellers on eBay and personal sites, we may temporarily suspend your account, and at the very least, delete the offending items.â

Reports suggest that as many as 1000 accounts have so far been closed over the practice, and this figure is sure to increase as Blizzard continue what might be perceived by some as being a witch-hunt.

Either way, it won't be long before we find out if our Mages, Warriors, and Draenei will have to pack for arctic conditions... that sounds so stupid... draenies suck n they r a race not a class

It's silly to call one MMO is better than another. They are all designed to target different market shares and niches. Thats like going to a women's shoestore and complaining that their are no boots. It is not the stores fault, it is yours.
