Blizzard Entertainment's latest expansion to World of Warcraft - Wrath of the Lich King - adds a host of epic content to the existing game world. The Lich King Arthas has set in motion events that could lead to the extinction of all life on Azeroth. With the armies of the undead and the necromantic power of the plague threatening to sweep across the land, only the mightiest heroes can oppose the Lich King's will and end his reign of terror for all time.

An icy looking splash page appears on Blizzard's home page; expect an announcement in days...

As certain as the sun rising in the morning, or resurrected George Lucas franchises blaspheming its predecessors, major announcements form a bread and butter part of Blizzard's various events.

2007's World Wide Invitational event in South Korea saw the developer reveal StarCraft II, whilst the second World of Warcraft expansion, Wrath of the Lich King, was unveiled at BlizzCon last summer. This weekend sees the 2008 World Wide Invitational roll into Paris, and right on time, a teasing splash page on the official Blizzard website has made an appearance. An icy looking piece of concept art, it would make sense that the page heralds some news about wintry wastelands of Northrend and Wrath of the Lich King, although there's also some speculation that Diablo III could be on the cards.

Naturally, Blizzard isn't saying much on the subject (nothing in fact), so we'll just have to wait and see what the weekend brings. Will we be getting a release date for Wrath of the Lich King or StarCraft II? Or could it be the long-awaited reveal of Diablo III?

I agree that the game has went down hill with the advent of the honor system, battlegrounds, and arena. The PVE game play just isn't the same. Not to mention all the lvl 60 dungeons that get absolutely no use anymore! Can't wait till wrath of the lic... [ Read full comment... ]

death knights and dark knights are different concepts. However final fantasy did have the idea of the dark knight concept before blizzard. But evil knights have been a prime concept for years. *cough* warhammer.
