German publisher acquires a majority shareholding on the London based developers...
In a joint statement 10TACLE Studios has announced that it's obtained a majority shareholding in the London based development studio, Blimey!, which is currently subcontracted to produce GTR2, the follow-up to GTR - FIA GT Racing Game for Simbin.
Formed and staffed by former Simbin employees including CEO Ian Bell, TVG reported on the relationship between the two developers back in October 2005 when the split from the Swedish based company was made public. The financial details of the deal have not been released but as expected both Blimey! and 10TACLE are more than optimistic with today's news.
"We couldn't be happier" says Ian Bell, CEO at Blimey! Games and former Head of Studio at SimBin Development Team, AB. "Our successful history and great relationship with 10TACLE has made this alliance an obvious choice. 10TACLE's significant investment in Blimey! Games underscores the strength of this relationship, their faith in us to continue delivering award-winning products, and our commitment to bring extraordinary new experiences to the explosive next-gen market."
"With this shareholding, 10TACLE STUDIOS underlines its claim to develop internationally outstanding top-quality racing games. In our opinion, the Blimey! developers are the most talented team in this segment worldwide and we are very much looking forward to the forthcoming game developments", Michele Pes, CEO of 10TACLE STUDIOS AG, emphasises the importance of this new acquisition.
GTR2 is set for a summer 2006 release on PC; we'll have more news shortly...
