The Wizards Tower, The Orrery plus a patch to address issues found so far...
Bethesda today announced details of a forthcoming patch available to Xbox 360 and PC owners of the epic RPG Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, along with confirmation and precise details of the first batch of downloadable content set to be made available shortly.
Although precise details of the patch remain unknown, Bethesda claims that the patch will address issues that they have identified along with those reported and confirmed by fans.
Confirming the downloadable content reported last week, Bethesda have confirmed that The Orrery quest will allow you to help the Mages Guild of Cyrodiil repair the Imperial Orrery by returning a shipment of parts destined for the Arcance University but stolen by bandits; returning such items will result in the Orrery functioning once again.
The new content will herald a new, fully-fledged quest, featuring all-new dialogue, journals and rewards, whilst players will be able to explore the previously unavailable Orrery in the Arcance University. More significantly is the inclusion of new powers being made available based on the phases of the moon; a feature that Gamespot recently alluded to as Werewolves
In addition the downloadable content will also introduce The Wizards Tower, which promises to offer a fantastic vista to the stunning backdrop of Oblivion. Set high in the mountains of Frostcrag Spire, The Wizards Tower promises a fully detailed tower to explore which offers a fantastic view of Cyrodiil from the highest point in the game. Players can take the time to level up with beds available in the tower, whilst alchemists can explore the 130 different specimens offered in the botanical garden, including herbs native to Oblivion.
The tower also provides all-new Atronach Familiars that will obey your commands and instant teleports to every Mages Guild in Cyrodiil, along with new spell and recharge vendors in the Imperial City.
House owners can benefit from fully upgraded furnishings along with the ability to upgrade to a fully-functioning Enchanting and Spellmaking station without the need to join the Mages Guild, whilst Alchemists can upgrade to a Laboratory that buffs your skills.
The Orrery should be made available to PC and 360 owners next week, costing 150 Microsoft Points or $1.89 on the PC. Countering the naysayers Bethesda announced that the Horse Armour pack has exceeded their expectations, however to appease those disgruntled by the offering will try to offer a more significant package with the next batch of content.
