Bethesda Softworks confirm the development of a new Morrowind expansion pack - First Details + Screens inside...

Bethesda Softworks recently announced the second expansion pack to the epic PC RPG, Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind. The Elder Scrolls III: Bloodmoon takes players to the frozen Island of Solstheim where the Empire is establishing a new mining colony - a venture being threatened by the prophecy of the Bloodmoon and rumours of werewolves.

As players travel north from Vvardenfell, a whole new world will be encountered as the ashlands and rainy coasts of Morrowind give way to forests and hills covered with snow and ice. A variety of new effects have been added in the expansion, including snow and blizzard effects; whilst a range of new monsters have been added, including frost trolls, werewolves, bears, spriggans and ice minionsâ¦

Tantalisingly weâre told that in-keeping with the Morrowind design, players will be able to choose how they want to play the game; whether you defend the colony, take control over how the colony is built up, and eliminate the werewolves. Or, you can decide to join the werewolves and become one of them, opening up a whole new style of gameplay.

"The chance to become a werewolf adds a new dimension and brings back a memorable part of Morrowind's predecessor, Daggerfall," said Project Leader Ashley Cheng. "It's something our fans have talked a lot about, and we felt the only way to do it right was in an expansion where we could devote full attention to it."

"We wanted Bloodmoon to look and feel completely new for Morrowind players," said Todd Howard, Executive Producer. "Everything from the setting to the storyline to the art makes this expansion feel like a game unto itself."

Elder Scrolls III: Bloodmoon is scheduled for release in May; weâll have more information soon, but make sure to check out the first screens.

Ubisoft, the games European publishers have yet to confirm a European release date, however weâll try to get a comment soon.
