Battlestations: Midway 2 On The Way News

It's not official, but it looks like a sequel to Battlestations: Midway is in the pipelines...

While we were rooting around in SCi Games' (the owner of Eidos) annual financial report, we picked up on a tiny snippet of information which as good as confirms that a sequel to Battlestations: Midway is in development.

Here's the excerpt in full:

"We successfully launched new titles, Just Cause and Battlestations: Midway, and both became number one hits. Over one million units of Just Cause were shipped during the year. We launched Battlestations: Midway, a title developed by our Budapest studio, in February. Importantly, both titles are wholly owned properties, both properties have sequels in development and we believe both titles have the potential to be long-term franchises."

This is the first we've heard of a sequel for Battlestations: Midway. The chances are that it won't be called Battlestations: Midway 2 though, as it seems a little unlikely that you could base two separate computer games around one battle. Battlestations: Fall of Saigon, perhaps? Actually, on second thoughts, maybe not.

in regards to combat at night (if you guys choose to be totally awsome and do that), it would be important to note that the japanese had better night fighting and bombing capability (before 1944 that is). after 1944 many avengers (enterprise was re d... [ Read full comment... ]

the maps should be bigger with more detail. there should be a day AND night aspect to BSM-2, Example: after X-number of minutes pass during daylight, night would fall, putting a rather interesting twist on the battle. there should be more ships on th... [ Read full comment... ]

concerning radar: flying at low altitutes (under the radar) should work. you should be able to select altitudes for your aircraft to fly at (Examples: below radar, 10,000 20,000 30,000 and so on). aircraft aswell as ships should only apear as blips o... [ Read full comment... ]

the smaller guns on larger ships were not strictly AA flak cannons. Example: the North Hampton CA has 4x5inch guns which could be used (in real life) to compliment its larger 8inch guns in artilery. carriers had 5inch guns which could be used to defe... [ Read full comment... ]

It would be nice if greater attention to detail concerning the actual speed of ships and aircraft was paid rather than a simple standard for each class of ship or aircraft (the the the fletcher class destoyer only went about 27nmph, the p-38 went abo... [ Read full comment... ]
