The anticipated follow-up to Battlefield goes gold ahead of the end of June release...
Electronic Arts has today announced that the sequel to Battlefield, the aptly named Battlefield 2, has gone gold. The game, which sees players choose to fight for the United States, China, or the fictitious âMiddle-East Coalitionâ, is set for release on PC on June 24th 2005.
Once again Swedish company Digital Illusions has been behind the development of Battlefield 2, which will give players access to over 30 different types of vehicles and the latest in modern day weaponry with the potential to play online battles of up to 64 gamers.
DICE has also incorporated improved enemy AI and single-player campaign, as well as integrating team play that allows gamers to be part of a squad or survey the battle in Commander Mode. Battlefield 2 will also include an online breakdown including character rankings that then lead to various unlockables such as weapons and medals becoming available.
Weâll have more on Battlefield 2 shortly...
