Beck, The Black Eyed Peas and Gwen Stefani join Mondo Grosso and the collaborator of Rez...
With the forthcoming release of Lumines Live and an agreement with Warner Music Group signalling the mainstream future of Q Entertainment's puzzle title, Buena Vista Games today confirmed a similar move for the PSP sequel.
Music tracks and videos set to appear in the game include:
- Beck - "Black Tambourine"
- Black Eyed Peas - "Pump It"
- Chemical Brothers - "Star Guitar"
- Fatboy Slim - "Gangster Trippin'"
- The Go! Team - "Bottle Rocket"
- Gwen Stefani - "Hollaback Girl"
- Hoobastank - "Born to Lead"
- Junior Senior - "Take My Time"
- Missy Elliott - "Lose Control"
- New Order - TBD
- Junkie XL - "Breezer"
- Stigmato Inc - "Reality Check"
Thankfully Mizuguchi-san hasn't turned his back entirely on original tracks from the legendary Mondo Grosso, who penned the original (and best) track for Lumines. Lumines II will also feature songs from the renowned Tokyo techno DJ, Ken Ishii, whose name will be instantly familiar to fans of Mizuguchi-san for writing the song 'Creation The State of Art' - a theme for the third level in the iconic PS2/Dreamcast title, REZ.
"With some of today's most popular artists involved, 'Lumines II' is an amazing project," said Michael Ryder, senior vice president of global production, Buena Vista Games. "Combined with an exceptional game design from Tetsuya Mizuguchi, 'Lumines II' delivers an exhilarating experience."
"In order to showcase my vision for 'Lumines II,' we needed to find music and videos with just the right tone, mix and energy to incorporate into the game," said Tetsuya Mizuguchi, chief creative officer of Q ENTERTAINMENT. "I couldn't be happier with the result and am excited to get the game into players' hands."
Lumines II is slated for release towards the end of the year; look out for further coverage and more on one of the handheld's most anticipated titles soon.
