Sony Computer Entertainment Europe and BSkyB have today announced a deal that will see content from the UK/Ireland satellite television provider released for PSP.
News of the deal was released by BSkyB as part of their latest financial results, and will be available to the 2 million PSP owners in the British Isles from the early part of 2008. The service will see movies, TV shows, and sports form a 'personalised video on demand' catalogue.
Speaking to The Telegraph, James Murdoch, BSkyB's chief executive, said: "This is particularly exciting because the PSP is a fantastic device and we think the product is a proven one for audio visual consumption."
BSkyB, a subsidiary of Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation which also includes 20th Century Fox, also announced that whilst they hadn't spoken with Nintendo about a similar deal for DS, they hadn't ruled it out...though quite how such a service would work on the more technologically restrictive DS is unclear.
