It's been given a 'U' for Universal age rating by the British ratings board, and a subtitle to boot...but has THQ secured the portable version of Rare's colourful game...
First revealed at the 2007 Comic Con, Rare's DS take on their 2006 Xbox 360 release, Viva Pinata, has largely remained under the radar. However, the British Board of Film Classification seems to have unveiled a few details of the portable title a little sooner than perhaps anticipated.
As published on the BBFC's website (and uncovered by Rare fansite, MundoRare) the board has awarded the 'simulation' a 'U for Universal' age rating on April 18th, and reveals that the game's full title as Viva Pinata: Pocket Paradise.
More interestingly, is that the publisher for Pocket Paradise is revealed by the BBFC to be none other than THQ - the first time that a potential publisher for the game has been identified. THQ had previously been responsible for bringing a few Rare titles to Nintendo's past portable platform, the GameBoy Advance, including Banjo-Pilot and It's Mr Pants!, so perhaps their involvement isn't too surprising.
TVG contacted THQ about the apparent deal to publish the game, and the appearance of the company's name in the BBFC's Viva Pinata DS listing. In a brief statement, one THQ representative responded by saying, "We [THQ] are currently unable to make any comments regarding this enquiry."
