August 24th Release Date for Xbox 360 Elite Confirmed News

Prices for the Premium and Core Xbox 360 models will be cut at the same time...
Confirming ongoing rumours, Microsoft has revealed a release date of August 24th for the Xbox 360 Elite in Europe. The Elite will be priced £30 cheaper than expected at £299.99.
There will also be price cuts for the Premium Xbox 360 SKU, from £279.99 to £249.99, and the Core model (reduced by £20 to £179.99) on August 24th. This follows similar price reductions in the US a fortnight ago, which saw $50 price cuts on all three Xbox 360 SKUs.
"We're pleased to be able to offer Xbox 360 at a new, lower estimated retail price," said Stephen McGill, Head of Gaming & Entertainment, Xbox UK. "We pioneered the successful concept of multiple products for multiple categories of consumer. First-timers will love the Xbox 360 Core system, which offers an affordable entry into high-definition gaming. The Xbox 360 Elite, with its large hard drive and wireless controller, will appeal to casual and experienced gamers and families. The Xbox 360 opens up whole new avenues of entertainment for those who seek the ultimate gaming and entertainment experience.
"Whether it's our lead in console sales, record-setting games and accessory attach rates or our leading online service, evidence is everywhere that Xbox is thriving," continued McGill. "When you combine that momentum with these great-value offerings with our unbeatable Christmas game line-up, it's clear that Xbox 360 is uniquely placed to take the UK by storm this Christmas."
The Xbox 360 Elite comes in the original black and green Xbox colours, it has an expanded 120GB hard drive and features an HDMI port (not present on the European Premium and Core SKUs). However, recent reports in the US have indicated that Microsoft is silently phasing in HDMI ports on their Premium models, although no evidence for similar activity in Europe has been uncovered.
