Koei confirms the a mid-March release for the RPG series' debut on European shores...
Koei has today confirmed a March 17th as the European release date for Atelier Iris: Eternal Mana on PlayStation2, marking the long-running Japanese RPG series' debut on the continent. Set in the world Regallzine where the art of harnessing Mana Spirits and alchemy is dying, players control Klein Kiesling on his quest to discover and learn about the skills needed to become an alchemist.
A key feature of the Atelier Iris series, players will be able to create up to 300 different objects thanks to the game's Syntheses System, with the game also incorporating what's described as a more strategic combat system, Cost Turn Battle System. The system allows gamers the choice to use low damage attacks that bring their turn to attack around quicker, or execute a high damage attack that will be built up over a number of turns. Eternal Mana is also set to feature a strong narrative and the ability for players to select English or the original Japanese dialogue.
The announcement that Atelier Iris will be arriving in Europe has come in quick succession to Square-Enix's statement that their Dragon Quest franchise will also be making an appearance here in April 2006.
