Atari snatch publishing rights to an innovative fps from the creators of Codename: Outbreak…
Atari today confirmed that it has secured the publishing rights to an innovative PC title currently in development at the Ukranian based developer, Deep Shadows.
Previously known as Xenus and now scheduled for release in Spring 2005, Boiling Point: Road to Hell is described as a first-person-shooter set in a massive open-ended world, and blends intense armed combat with exploration and interaction with a vast and seamless gaming world.
The game pits players in the present day jungles of South America, having to battle competing factions in a brutal guerrilla war. Utilising Deep Shadowâs proprietary game engine, Boiling Point: Road to Hell streams beautifully rendered environments, allowing Deep Shadow to create a non-linear gaming experience without loading or separate levels, creating a continuous world that spans hundreds of miles.
Early information fed to TVG suggests that you find yourself in the jungle after your sister, a journalist, disappears. Deep Shadow has previously stated that the game is very much an RPG instead of just an action game with RPG elements. As such killing is not the goal, your goal is to find your sister and so you need to talk to people to gain advice. The various factions throughout the game include Officials, Guerrilla, Narco Mafia, Indian, Bandits and CIA; to begin with most of these will act neutral to the player, however your actions and help for one will naturally affect your relationship with others.
Naturally in addition to the typically wide range of powerful and distinctive weapons, the game also promises a massive collection of vehicles to make the most of the huge environments.
Finally weâre promised an array of different AI factions with which the player can interact, and hundreds of different missions to ensure an original experience every time the game is played, resulting in something the developers claim is âgameplay freedom and replayability on an unprecedented scaleâ.
Weâll have more on Boiling Point: Road to Hell soon.
