Atari and Ignition Entertainment confirm a multi-title distribution deal starting with Mercury Meltdown...

In a joint statement, Atari and Ignition Entertainment have today confirmed a new multi-title, multi-territory, distribution deal that will see the likes of King of Fighters Neowave and the PSP Blade Dancer being circulated across the UK, France, and Germany. One of the more high-profile titles set for distribution by Atari will be Mercury Meltdown, sequel to the PSP launch title, Archer Maclean's Mercury, which is set for release in September 2006.

"Ignition are known for publishing games that consumers want, and we believe this to be our strongest line up ever," said Phu Tien, International Sales Manager, Ignition Entertainment. "With games such as our own internally developed Mercury Meltdown, and the very strong line up of titles from SNK and Hitmaker, we had numerous approaches from various distribution entities across Europe, however we chose Atari as they demonstrated commitment and drive, as well as being able to deliver a strong distribution presence."

"After the success of the original Mercury we are obviously very pleased to be distributing Mercury Meltdown for the PSP. With the additional titles that will be due throughout the year, we are looking forward to continuing our strong partnership with the guys from Ignition," said Jeremy Wigmore, Managing Director of Atari UK. "Mercury is an iconic title for the PSP and continues to perform well at retail and we hope to continue the great performance with the forthcoming sequel."

Other titles to be distributed under the new deal include King of Fighters: Maximum Impact 2 and Samurai Shodown 6 for PlayStation2, and SNK Vs Capcom Card Fighters for Nintendo DS.
