Atari announces that European PSPs are set to enjoy anime FPS in the Autumn...

Atari has today confirmed that Masamune Shirowâs Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex will be coming to Europe in Autumn 2005 although an exact release date has yet to be announced. The game, a futuristic first-person shooter, follows the story of Section 9 a group of intelligence operatives as they try to thwart the plans of cyber-criminals. Players take control of key characters and their respective skills including "Major" Motoko Kusanagi's agility, her partner Batou's strength, the rookie Togusa's stealth, or Saito's sniper skills to unravel the mysteries of Berutarube.

Players will be able to teach and customise their Tachikoma walkers and choose from a range of 40 weapons such as grenades and machine guns. As well as the single-player storyline, gamers will also be able to engage in up to six player Wi-Fi combat and trade Tachikoma parts and intriguingly, AI data.

âA central theme to the Ghost on the Shell series is looking at the future of mankindâs interaction with technology, so what better platform for the game than the state-of-the-art PlayStation Portable,â said Cyril Voiron, Marketing Director, Atari Europe. âUsing the Wireless technology, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex provides gamers with one of the only FPS titles on PSP and a uniquely brilliant shooter experience.â
