Online Godzilla action heading towards the Xbox and Playstation2…
Atari today confirmed the development of Godzilla: Save the Earth for the Playstation2 and Xbox; set to take the fighting element of Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee, and incorporating an all-new Action Mode and online multiplayer fighting.
Currently in development at Pipeworks, the game offers nine game modes to choose from, including Action, an all-new mission-based single player; Challenges, a series of single-player challenges to complete; Custom, where players can set the parameters of a fight; Versus, the classic one-on-one battle and many more including a host of mini-games.
"Godzilla®: Save the Earth combines the epic scope that is the hallmark of the landmark movies with an amazing single-player Action Mode to create the definitive adventure fighting game on any system," said Peter Wyse, executive producer at Atari. "With more monsters, more cities and more radioactive monster bashing, Godzilla® fans won't believe the authenticity, while fighting and adventure gamers will have a unique experience with one of the best known film legends in the world!"
In the Action mode, G-Force Scientists have cracked Godzillaâs genetic code from samples obtained during the Vortaak invasion. Having refined the code to grow super-enriched âGodzilla Matterâ â“ a virtually indestructible substance with the exact properties as Godzillaâs radioactive back spikes â“ the Vortaak learn of the Godzilla Matter and strike Monster Island in an attempt to steal G-Cells and seize control of Earthâs monsters. As Godzilla, players must stop the UFOâs from stealing G-Cells and free his fellow monsters. Throughout the gameâs missions, Vorticia sends waves of monsters, UFOâs, mind-controlled military and earth-threatening devices at Godzilla, who must defeat the enemies and find the hidden G-Cells before the UFOâs can find them.
Over 12 destructible landscapes feature within the game, taking in a variety of locations including Los Angeles, San Francisco, Tokyo, Osaka and New York.
Both the Playstation2 and Xbox versions are set to offer online multiplayer for up to four players; players will be able to go head-to-head, three-or-four-player-free-for-all or team-up for two-on-two combat.
Weâll have a closer look soon.
