Atari confirms that the infamous Gaul will be heading to the Olympics on Wii, PlayStation2, Nintendo DS, and PC...
Atari has today announced that a videogame based on the upcoming Asterix at The Olympic Games is currently in development at Etranges Libellules, with a release date this Winter.
The CGI/Live Action movie is scheduled to arrive in cinemas in time for the actual Olympics held in Beijing in 2008, and follows Asterix, Obelix, and Dogmatix as they travel to compete against the athletes of Rome. Etranges Libellules' game will follow the storyline, but will also feature a mini-game mode and two-player multiplayer challenges.
"Over the last decade Atari has sold more than three million Asterix video games in Europe, and it's a joy to be able to continue to build on this great legacy with something this brilliantly original," said Cyril Voiron, Marketing Director, Atari Europe. "The fusion of elements from the film with original CGI and a unique storyline complementing the film, combined with Etrange Libellule's know-how in consistently delivering high quality and extremely fun games, makes Asterix at the Olympic Games a must-have Christmas title."
Seems like it's not only Mario and Sonic who are preparing to compete in the Games next year...
