Texan publishers sign agreement with Bungie founder, Alexander Seropian’s new development studios…
In an announcement made today, Texas based Aspyr Media, Inc have confirmed that they will be publishing the debut title from Wideload Games, the new development studios from Alexander Seropian, founder of Bungie.
The title, expected to be released in 2005, is said to be action based and utilises the Halo game engine.
"Wideload has an incredibly talented team with a proven track record of delivering original games that have sold in the millions. They're a great team, we're a great team, and together we're a powerful combination," said Michael Rogers, president of Aspyr. "We've padded our walls and removed all sharp objects from our offices, so we can be ready for the craziness that Wideload will deliver."
Speaking about the association, Seropian said, âTopping our 'why we want to work with Aspyr list' is their strong reputation of working with top-name companies and staying true to the creator's vision. This was very appealing to usâ¦We've known this team for many years and have always been impressed by the creative freedom and the flexibility afforded to their development and content partners. We are going to have a great time playing mad scientists in our lab and then handing off our first born to Aspyr. Their drive and desire to focus on this product and see it succeed matches our own."
Besides being founded by an ex-Bungie man, Wideload also employs several former Bungie staff, including programmers and artists, and is based in Chicago. Aspyr Media are based in Austin, Texas are the publishers behind the Mac releases of, amongst others, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and Call of Duty.
