Gran Turismo 5 Prologue will be available in the US as a download on the PlayStation Store, and as a boxed copy on April 17th. This traditional GT Prologue release, which gives eager-beaver fans an extended taster of the incoming full game, will be the first substantial incarnation of GT on Sony's PlayStation 3.
While the Japanese version of the game was released last December, there is still no exact date for Europe. In an interview with Japanese magazine Famitsu last year GT's Creator, Kazunori Yamuchi, said that he was hoping to have GT5 Prologue ready for release in Europe during the summer of this year.
The full version of GT4 (on PS2) was staggered across the territories in 2004/05. While it was released in Japan at the end of 2004, it reached the US in February 2005, and then Europe during March. If this is anything to go by then it looks like the ETA that Yamuchi gave last August still holds true.
GT5 Prologue is set to feature online racing (for the first time in a GT game) of up to 16 players, 60 vehicles of incredible visual detail, and a variety circuits both old and new to the series (e.g. Suzuka, a London street circuit and Eiger Nordwand).
