Activision and The History Channel set to bring the American Civil War to Xbox 360, PlayStation2 and PC...
Perhaps not the immediate time period that you'd usually associate a first-person games with, but the US Civil War will be focus of a new title that'll be released in November in North America.
The History Channel: Civil War will see gamers experience a dozen historically accurate battles from the US Civil War between 1861 and 1865, including Gettysburg, Bull Run and Antietam, and will be released on Xbox 360, PlayStation2, and PC. As well as authentically recreated weapons, players will apparently also be able to engage in hand-to-hand combat and melee fighting.
Additionally in a bid to help educate players, The History Channel will also be adding documentary footage before each of the battles to put the violence and bloodshed into greater context.
A European release for The History Channel: Civil War is so far unknown, but TVG is looking forward to future 'first-person action' titles such as UKTV History: Battle of Agincourt, and BBC Four: Napoleonic Wars.
We'll have more news shortly...
