Messrs. Jackman, Stewart, Cumming and Ashmore all set to reprise their mutant characters in the forthcoming X-Men game...

Activision has today confirmed that Patrick Stewart, Hugh Jackman, Alan Cumming, and Shawn Ashmore will be reprising their respective roles for the forthcoming X-Men: The Official Game. Following the action before the new X-Men: The Last Stand movie, players will control Wolverine, Nightcrawler, and Iceman on their latest mission to protect mutant-kind.

"Having these actors renew their movie characters in X-Men: The Official Game immerses gamers in the X-Men movie universe," said Will Kassoy, Vice President of Global Brand Management, Activision Publishing. "Players will experience epic battles and uncover the events behind Nightcrawler's mysterious disappearance and the roles the X-Men and Brotherhood play in the upcoming film."

The game's narrative has been co-written by X-Men: The Last Stand co-scriptwriter Zak Penn and X-Men comic book writer Chris Claremont, which should make the story in keeping with Marvel lore.

X-Men: The Official Game is set for release on May 19th on multiple formats; we'll have more news shortly...
