Activision grab Valve titles but no Half-Life 2 in the deal + Day of Defeat announced...
Activision and Valve Software today announced an exclusive agreement, which will see future Valve developed titles published by the US outfit. It should be noted that the agreement with Activision does not relate to the Half-Life franchise, indeed the eagerly awaited Half-Life 2 is still under the Sierra brand and is unlikely to change.
The first of the games released under Activision will be an online FPS set unsurprisingly during World War II. Day of Defeat is scheduled for release in May, and is based on Half-Life technology. Set during 1944 during the height of the war in Western Europe; players enlist as snipers, infantrymen, machine gunners, riflemen and sergeants as they embark in a historically accurate depiction of the Axis Vs Allies.
Originally beginning life as a Half-Life mod, the game features multiple modes of play, 15 multiplayer maps, all-new character models, increased textures and all new particle effects.
