GH4 marks a significant leap forwards in innovation, Bond based on the CoD4 engine, Call of Duty 5 not set in WWII, no console Tony Hawk's this year...

Activision's earnings conference call following its record breaking 20008 fiscal reports provided a host of details and information on the publisher's forthcoming titles for the current year and beyond.

Continuing to champion the success of Guitar Hero and Call of Duty, both franchises that have passed the $1 billion mark, Activision expectedly confirmed that new titles are expected in the current year for both franchises.

Beyond Guitar Hero: Aerosmith and Guitar Hero: On Tour, the latter of which will form a DS bundle after impressing Nintendo with the add-on peripheral, Activision's President and CEO Mike Griffiths suggested that the brand will see triple the number of SKUs, quadruple the local song content from Europe, and triple the downloadable song content compared to what appeared in 2008.

With the release of Guitar Hero IV on the Xbox 360, PlayStation3, PlayStation2, Wii and DS, Griffiths remarks that the game will mark a significant leap forwards in innovation and claims that further information on the title will be revealed in the next couple of weeks.

Regarding the next title in the Call of Duty series, Griffiths revealed that the title will take "the intensity of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare to a new military theatre", suggesting that a return to WWII for TreyArch may not be on the cards. Currently untitled but under the guise of Call of Duty 5, the game is in development for the Xbox 360, PlayStation3, PC, PlayStation2, Wii and DS.

Revealing that Bizarre's first racing IP for Activision will be released during fiscal 2010 (April 1st 2009 - March 31st 2010), Griffiths claims that the title "already looks very strong".

Regarding the James Bond license, Activision confirmed that the title will release alongside the movie on October 31st and will be based around the Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare game engine.

Turning the spotlight onto another stalwart franchise, Griffiths revealed that two Tony Hawk projects are currently underway. The first is a DS exclusive due to ship this year and promises to introduce technology never previously seen on the popular handheld.

For the next Tony Hawk's home console outing, Griffiths reveals that the project has been in development for the last two years and promises to offer the breakthrough that even Activision appear to recognise Tony Hawk's needs. Without revealing too many specifics but remaining bullish about its prospects, Griffiths revealed that the title won't release until FY2010, meaning that 2008 will be the first year since the brand launched in 1999 that we won't see a Tony Hawk's release.

Goldeneye was great at the time SegaBoy, but FPS games evolved very quickly back then. In a year halflife was out, then halo a couple of years later. I dont hold out much hope for an activision bond title to be honest.

I got to admit, Goldenyee is a classic that I just can't get. Sure it brought multiplayer FPS to teh consoles, but I'd been doing that for years on Doom, Duke Nukem, etc...

it doesn't matter who makes the new bond game, it will never be as good as Goldeneye on the N64. I still dig the old nintendo out for a bash on the finest game ever made
