Activision Reveals E3 Line-Up News

Strong brands return to bolster Activision’s continued success...

Activision today confirmed its E3 line-up, further continuing to build upon its strong franchises and brands, along with Peter Molyneuxâs intriguing Hollywood Sim, The Movies - surprisingly thereâs no mention of True Crime 2â¦

The appearance of Call of Duty 2 may hold little surprise given the title had previously been announced, however confirmation of Call of Duty 2: Big Red One certainly holds some intrigue. Building upon Call of Dutyâs signature epic, cinematic intensity of war, Call of Duty 2: Big Red One appears to offer the multiplayer/strategic side of the equation, as players unite as part of a squad in the legendary and decorated âRed Big Oneâ, the American 1st Infantry Division.

The multi-format release of Fantastic 4 promises to be the only game based on Twentieth Century Foxâs upcoming feature film, pitting one or two players in a team-based action/adventure.

Catching up on The Movies will once again be interesting, as is often the case with a Peter Molyneux associated title; whether or not the team have pulled off its lofty ambitions remains in question, however thereâs little doubt it promises to be one of the more unique titles on display.

The arrival of Quake IV marks the true return of a classic franchise, and after some criticism of Doom 3, it will be interesting to see how Raven Software have gone about the job. Focussing on a Quake II driven, squad-based experience has raised a few eyebrows, although confidence remains that Quake IV will mark a stellar, long-overdue return to the franchise.

Although it will be a little longer before Spidey graces the silver screen again, gamers wonât have to wait too long, as Activision demonstrates Ultimate Spider-Man â“ first rumoured by TVG back in July 2004. As suspected, Ultimate Spider-Man removes the constraints and has granted more freedom for TreyArch to develop the franchise; presenting players with the choice of both Spider-Man and his most menacing nemesis, Venom, in an original storyline written and illustrated by the team behind the Ultimate Spider-Man comic-book series.

Tony Hawk is once again wheeled out for service in Tony Hawk's American Wasteland, this time around giving players the freedom to experience continuous skating and BMX action without leaving the game or waiting for load times, as they explore and choose missions in a living, breathing recreation of Los Angeles.

Having won the accolade of the âbest-selling X-Men videogameâ, X-Men Legends II: Rise of the Apocalypse will likely be cause for celebration; letting players create, customise and control teams of four mutant superheroes from 16 all-time favourite X-Men and classic Brotherhood villains.

Finally Shrek makes a return in the multiplayer melee romp, Shrek SuperSlam - and that's about all I can say on that!

Weâll have further coverage of the titles very soon.
