Acclaim announce exclusive rights to develop videogames on the 'pulp noir' comic series...
Following on from an agreement to create a videogame based on the popular CG comic series, The Red Star; Acclaim today announced that it has secured the videogame rights to another popular comic license.
As part of an exclusive agreement with DC Comics, Acclaim have been given the rights to develop ânext-generationâ titles based on the award-winning âpulp noirâ comic â“ 100 Bullets.
Chronicling the dark, moral-testing exploits of Agent Graves, a rogue member of a secret organization, who provides people with the opportunity of a lifetime - an attaché case containing the proof, the gun, and the carte blanche immunity to exact revenge on a person who's done them an irrevocable wrong.
"The 100 Bullets universe possesses all of the key elements that comprise what consumers are looking for in today's games â“ great characters, deep storytelling and edge-of-your-seat action," said Marc Metis, Senior Vice President of Brand Management for Acclaim. "In keeping with its comic book origin, we will challenge players to 'think before they shoot' and allow them to explore the moral implications of their actions."
"We're exited to bring the first of VERTIGO's pre-eminent titles to the video game consoles," said John Nee, DC Comics, Vice President - Business Development. "This will redefine what a comic book game can be."
100 Bullets is scheduled for release at some point in 2004 across the next generation platforms; weâll have more information and hopefully a First Look soon.
