AM2 Announce OutRun 2 News

Sega have made our weekends with the first screens & details of OutRun 2...

As we predicted last week, AM2 today lifted the lid off a new title and boy are the older gamers in for a treat.

Whilst we've known that Outrun 2 has been in development for some time, actually seeing the game has certainly got the TVG office in a bit of a stir - oh how many weeks of our misspent youth did we spend chucking in coins just for the thrill of driving a Ferrari, along with a sexy chick to the wonderful tunes of 'Magical Sound Shower'.

Shaking our maracas along to the tune in 'Samba De Amigo' didn't satisfy the nostalgia in us; not only did it make us feel like muppets, but it left us wanting a sequel even more.

Currently in development for the Chihiro arcade board, we're hoping that an Xbox version won't be too far away given the similarities between the hardware.

Thankfully this time around Sega have actually secured the license with Ferrari, allowing a multitude of different licensed vehicles for use within the game, furthering the ties between the two companies after the outstanding Ferrari 355 Challenge. Unfortunately AM2 are being coy regarding specific details, however we're hoping for the legendary beautiful open-road courses to make a comeback and of course the multiple-route system.

As you can see from the screens, there's an intriguing 'Hearts' counter in the bottom-left - could this determine how you pick up the girls, or perhaps a similar system to 'Kudos' for showing off to the ladies???
