Autodesk confirms its support for Sony's next-generation machine...


Autodesk has today confirmed that its 3d animation software, 3ds Max, will support software development on PlayStation3. The software package, which has a long held tradition of supporting the PlayStation family going back to the original console, is the most popular 3d animation package used in game development and it would have been more of a surprise if it hadnât endorsed the format.

Making the announcement, Marc Petit, Vice President of Product Development and Operations, Autodesk Media and Entertainment "With a long-term business relationship with SCEI, Autodesk is committed to its on-going support that will directly benefit our 3ds Max customers as they create new, imaginative film-like game titles for 'PLAYSTATION®3' platformâ¦We are delivering the innovative tools and game pipeline solutions needed to help our customers realize their ideas and harness the amazing power of 'PLAYSTATION®3'. We are excited to support SCEI and the game developers who create game titles -- as they innovate for the future of 3D entertainment."

lol anyone up for £55 of content on the £355 160gb ps3 (and i thought the ps3 was supposed to be future proof with this news obviously not as this case has proved)though knowing sony the actual uk price will more than likely be higher pro... [ Read full comment... ]

Why do people say its ffVII sequel!!! If you read the initial story it says it has nothing to do with ffV11 and its not an RPG!! Chances are there is no big announcement and it was a big joke!!
