What does the American dream mean today? For Niko Bellic fresh off the boat from Europe, it is the hope he can escape his past. For his cousin, Roman, it is the vision that together they can find fortune in Liberty City, gateway to the land of opportunity. As they slip into debt and get dragged into a criminal underworld by a series of shysters, thieves and sociopaths, they discover that reality is very different from the dream in a city that worships money and status, and is heaven for those who have them and a living nightmare for those who don't.

Microsoft boldly celebrates the new home for GTA amidst a 125% increase in hardware sales...

Following the confirmation that GTA4 has smashed every record standing in its way to global domination, Microsoft today triumphantly announced that the Xbox 360 version has shifted over 100,000 copies more than the PS3 version in the UK.

Representing an increase of 20%, the promise of exclusive downloadable content and a stable online platform appears to have been the deciding factor in ensuring GTA has made a new home on Xbox.

Official figures released from Chart-Track show that week one sales of the Xbox 360 version stood at 514,000 copies, compared with 413,000 units on the Playstation3. The release also sparked an upswing in sales of the Xbox 360, which jumped by 125% on a week-by-week basis.

Coming on top of revelations that the PS3 version doesn't even render in true HD, Microsoft maintains that the Xbox 360 version is the only one that renders Liberty City in "all of its 720p high-definition glory". Further figures from the stat-happy Microsoft also suggests that over 9.7 million hours of GTA4 multiplayer has been logged across Xbox Live, with more than 31 million hours clocked on the overall game.

"In the past week since the release of 'Grand Theft Auto IV', the bar has been set even higher for what the growing entertainment medium of gaming can deliver in the way of immersive, living worlds and exciting social experiences," said Chris Lewis, Vice President, Interactive Entertainment Business, Microsoft EMEA. "Today it has become clear that consumers are finding Xbox 360 the best way to experience Liberty City and we expect this trend to continue, especially with exclusive 'Grand Theft Auto IV' episodes coming to Xbox 360 in the Autumn. 'Grand Theft Auto' has a new home on Xbox 360, and consumers are discovering how our platform can enhance the experience like no other."

You're absolutely WRONG. It's not "The Grid" from Koyaanisqatsi - it's "Pruitt-Igoe".
