2K Games becomes the latest publisher to sign to Valve's digital distribution system; Civilization III and IV set to form part of the first wave...
Following news in recent weeks that Activision has signed a deal to deliver the likes of GUN over Valve's Steam digital distribution system, Take-Two Interactive's 2K Games has today announced that it is do the same from the end of this week.
"With titles from legendary designer Sid Meier and 2K's world renowned developer, Firaxis Games, 2K is one of today's foremost publishers," said Gabe Newell, co-founder and president of Valve. "Through this initial agreement with 2K, Steam's game library expands to include four great strategy games. We look forward to delivering more from 2K in the future."
"We are excited to add Valve to our roster of partners in the digital distribution area," said Paul Crockett, Strategic Sales and Licensing, 2K. "Being included in their vast network will assist us in expanding the reach of our products to a much larger audience."
Four 2K Games titles are set to launch on Steam from the end of the week: Sid Meier's Civilizatoin III, Sid Meier's Civilization IV, Sid Meier's Pirates!, and Shattered Union (which isn't from Sid Meier...)
It may be something of a pun, but it does seem that Steam is continuing to literally pick up steam, especially now that a number of the large publishers have come on board - the only question is, who's next???
