21 New Supercar Street Challenge Screens News

Activision, Inc. will be one of the first companies out of the gate in the development of racing games for the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system with the super-charged racing title Supercar Street Challenge. Delivering full-throttle action, the game puts players behind the wheel of the worldâs fastest supercars and challenges them to compete in no-limits, high-speed races through the streets of cities around the world. Supercar Street Challenge, which is one of 14 games that Activision has been developing for the PlayStation 2 computer entertainment system, is expected to ship in the spring of 2001.

âAccording to NPD, racing currently accounts for 20% of PlayStation® game console software sales,â said Ron Doornink, President and COO of Activision. âThese are the same gamers that are expected to be early adopters of the new platform. With the technical power of the PlayStation 2 and the worldâs top car design houses, we are creating one of the most realistic and exciting racing games in the market.â

In Supercar Street Challenge, players can design, build and race their own supercar in no-holds-barred races through 16 courses set in 8 fully interactive city environments including Monaco, Rome and Los Angeles, among others. Supercar Street Challenge features real-time car damage and deformation that affects handling, as well as a state-of-the-art racing game engine that includes advanced AI, amazing handling, realistic driving physics and high-resolution graphics (60 FPS).

An exhilarating street-racing experience, the game challenges players to unlock cars, alternate routes and tracks as they progress through the racing circuit. Players can create their own supercars or choose from 10 concept cars designed by such premier international car designers as Fioravanti, Callaway and Modena. Supercar Street Challenge has not yet been received a UK age rating â“ TBC.
