Guillermo del Toro's trilogy of games planned over the course of 8-10 years...
THQ’s VP Of Core Games, Danny Bilson, has said that he expects Guillermo del Toro’s inSane franchise trilogy to take up to a decade to complete.
“This is an epic project, it’s going to take the next 8-10 years to build all three chapters of this game.” Bilson told StuffWeLike at the VGAs this weekend.
Del Toro - the creative force behind Hellboy and Pan’s Labyrinth - revealed that he had been working on the project for nearly 6 months, and expected to take another two-and-a-half years to complete the first game with developer Volition Inc. He also expressed a desire to become a good game designer in his own right:
“When you come from a medium like movies, you need to understand that the narrative medium of videogames is entirely different; the rules are different the way, the way you tell the story is different, you don’t come into this world and try to apply the same rules. I’m here to learn and try some crazy shit.” he said.
Bilson himself is no stranger to the medium of movies, having co-written The Rocketeer prior to his career in videogame production. Little has been revealed about the inSane games, although a recently released trailer suggests a fairly dark tone for the franchise.
