Level Selector

On the options screen, highlight any option except "Exit", press the following buttons in this order: A, B, A, C, A, B, A, B.

If it is correct, you will hear a sound. Exit the options menu and start the game.

After selecting your favorite character, you will enter a screen where you can select any starting level (selecting the final unnamed level takes you to the end credits).
