Pro Pinball

I've always enjoyed pinball games from back in the days of Pinball ball fantasy's and pinball Illusion days. Back then the cost was around £25 for your average Amiga game and the hours of play you got from the four tables was well worth the initial investment.

So what does this Playstation version of the pub game offer that any different. Well for starters there's the enhanced look of the table in general. The genre has evolved from flat looking 2D table to glorified 3D with bouncers that stuck out from the table which solves the old problem of telling background and foreground items apart. Secondly the LED panel found at the top of most modern day Pinball table has been successfully recreated with some cracking interactive games to play when special modes are activated. Multiball, ramp combo's are all there as well as the essential tilt machine option.

Pro Pinball Big Race USA features nicely ray traced table and well thought out designs and LED games, but there is only ONE table. Other Pinball games admittedly don't look as nice but at least with True Pinball you had a chance of change the table to relieve boredom once and a while. To sum up a very polished pinball game with lots of nice features but at the end of the day £30 for one pinball table is a bit excessive, I'll be waiting for second hand copies to appear.

Insane Games
