The 1930âs were a time of greed, poker, money and the Mafia. The Mafia were the best at laundering money through bars and restaurants and any other location that they could get hold of. Not only did they launder money but they also were the first establishment to start the protection racket getting money from people for protection. Although the Mafia were good at what they did if some thing went wrong then you could expect violence, broken knee caps and blood all over the place. This time was also a perfect setting for the game Mafia.


This game is a third person action game that puts you in the two-tone shoes of a little known gangster called Tommy. Of course we have all heard of Tommy Two Tones at some stage in a gangster film or a book as he became a very known and respected gangster.


Before Tommy became gangster he was an unknown taxi driver that minded his own business until one day he got caught up in a bad situation where things started to change for better and worse. One day he got caught up in a Mafia situation that would change his life for ever.


You take control of Tommyâs life and have to further his career until he reaches the top of the Mafia ladder and is respected by all the people in the city. You will have to do this by becoming the notorious gangster with the following skills, being a top quality hitman, becoming a thug and deviant criminal like the underworld has ever seen.


The game will host 20 missions where two Mafia families are fighting it out for the control of the City. The game is going to be set on the objective cap every enemy that you see but donât get killed.


The visuals in the game look crisp and sharp as you can see from the screen shots. The graphics help to add to the atmosphere of the game as well as provide the user with a nice interface.


The game will include a multiplayer option with different styles including include capture the flag, deathmatch and possible some others. Considering that have half the game is driving around as fast as you can it is quite likely that there will be some kind of multiplayer racing option, that could end up a little like Carmageddon.


The game is set for release some time in mid 2001 but the game has been put back before so we may see this again.


Softworks mentioned that there would be more than 60 different modes of transport to use over the different missions, which is defiantly going to include cars and boats.

From what I have seen the game is looking like a top title. Keep an eye on this spot for the review that will follow soon.
