Warlords Battlecry III Mini Review

There is a number of PC games that hit the mark, although not being innovative, they offer exactly what you would expect ā“ good honest gameplay with some interesting ideas that give it a little originally and focus. It can also be said that a number of PC games suffer unfairly when coming from a small publisher whose marketing spend canāt match that of the big boys and thus their reflected glory could easily be overlooked. Such is the case with this title. Battlecry is a no-nonsense RTS, which is enhanced via its dark, moody and atmospheric graphics that transfer you into a land of tactical warfare. It is not often a gameās setting instantly pulls you into the storyline and you eagerly, impatiently, want to experience the thrill of battle and conflict as soon as possible!
Being the third in the series, each offering has improved and matured although not so much on the technology stakes, some might say this looks slightly dated, but on intuitiveness of gameplay and the nice progressive order the game conjures up. The familiar fanfare of bigger characters, more detailed units, and bigger battles are apparent and the underlying AI appears to have been tapered superbly offering a fair challenge ā“ a plausible one.
Warlords Battlecry III is devoid of gimmicks and posturing but offers up good, old fashioned, SOLID, strategy gameplay ā“ which to many is how it should be!
A small mention to the sound is also worth taking note of ā“ ambient and effective!
