WWF Smackdown! Just Bring It Preview

WWF is nearly upon us, so we took a last look at what to expect FROM the third title in the series.
Iām not a fan of WWF or any of the offshoot videogames, so what Iām doing previewing āWWF Smackdown: Just Bring Itā is anyoneās guess, but here goes.
Features:
- Evolution to the highly successful WWF Smackdown! 2: Know Your Role (over 2 million units sold worldwide).
- Increasing exposure/licensee support on mainstream TV/Press for this brand of Sports Entertainment.
- Mass-market appeal for wrestling fans, hardcore gamers, fighting game fanatics and casual gamers.
- Highly detailed WWF Superstars, arenas and backstage areas. 8 modes of play including 78 variations of Exhibition Match (with over 30 new match types including the New 6 man Tag).
- Over 35 WWF Superstars including the Rock, Stone Cold, Triple H, The Undertaker, William Regal and
Faarooq. - Amazing new real-time events such as Referee AI, arguments, interference and taunting.
- Full voice narration/commentary system brings the intense and thrilling atmosphere of a live TV show to the PlayStation 2.
- Full Titantron⢠movies.
- Up to 4 players simultaneous with up to 9 WWF Superstarts in the ring.
- Enhanced Create-a-Wrestler.
- Expanded single player career mode with all new environments and deeper storylines.
Actually saying I donāt like any of the videogames is perhaps a little harsh, Smackdown on the PSOne grabbed my attention for a brief while. It was fun to play and the story mode was entertaining, but because the license holds no appeal to me, the actual game needs to stand up on itās own and thereās a possibility that Smackdown 3 might just do that.
The first thing that youāll notice with Smackdown 3 is the lengths that Yukes have gone to in order to recreate the, ahem, sport. Iām told by our WWF fanatic, that each of the characters entrances have been realistically recreated so that the correct music plays, the lights, the videos, even the way they walk has all been accurately portrayed, which should please countless millions of you out there.
Arguably the best thing about the first title was the story mode, and the entertaining banter that occurred off stage. Not only will this mode feature in the sequel, itās been significantly enhanced. As in real-life the entertainment is out of the ring, so expect to find yourself babbling down the end of a microphone, arranging matches with Vince McMahon, developing rivalries with other wrestlers, etcā¦
During these āout-of-ringā sections the game switches to a first-person perspective, and gives the player the chance to look around and really get into the experience. However youāve not got too much time, as a timer counts down leading you on to the next
scenario, be it knocking out Steve Austin in the back room, grabbing hold a
tag-team mate to ruffle a common enemy or simply go and chat up Trish Stratus!
