Ask a group of Playstation owners what their favourite game of last year was and at least one will no doubt mention Tony Hawkâs Skateboarding. Easy to get into, instant gratification gameplay mixed with excellent track design and sheer scope for becoming a complete master at the game meant it was an instant hit. Well good news folks, a sequel is on its way. But then, we all knew that would happen didnât we?
The main concern with sequels is how much difference will there really be this time around and how do you improve on a game which is already damn near perfect? Well be prepared for a fairly predictable answer. Tony Hawkâs Skateboarding will feature extra characters, extra moves and basically extra of everything. Fans of the Original will be relieved to know that the simply genius control method is pretty much the same as it ever was with only minute amounts of tweaking.
This time around you get much larger and demanding areas. More practice will be required and there is far more room for mistakes. As well as this though there is far more potential to get completely amazing at the game. On the skater front there are now 12 professional skaters for you to race and injure at your pleasure. Extras arenât the only thing on offer in this sequel though. Tony Hawkâs 2 has much more to offerâ¦
Best news comes in the form of the completely new features. These go the way of V-Rally 2 et al in the sense it has gone the customisable route, meaning you can create you own custom tracks and skaters. This offers virtually limitless lastability as you can continue to make the coolest skate parks around, challenging friends on your own turf and also with your own skater. Similar to the WWF games you get the option to create a player. Hair, clothes, body size etc⦠can all be tailored to your wishes. Either make a serious alter ego of yourself or just simply make the funniest character that springs to mind. Itâs up to you.
With all the minor improvements and extra modes this should definitely be a wise purchase come itâs release in September. The fact that there is infinite track potential pretty much guarantees you your moneys worth. Expect us to provide screen shots and any further game details as soon as we have them.
