Three Kingdoms: Fate of the Dragon Review

Three Kingdoms is a RLS (real time strategy), the story of the game is based on a 14th century historical Chinese novel that was entitles: Romance of the Three Kingdoms. This novel was known to be one of the most famous and turbulent periods in the Chinese history. The story of the novel has been passed down through the Chinese generations by books, plays and storytellers.

The same starts at the end of the Eastern Han Dynasty, government officials were fighting for power while ordinary people were starving to death. Then in 184 AD, a number of large groups of farmers rose in rebellion against the state. The government of the time suppressed the rebellion and in turn the empire itself.

This collapse split China into three parts and thus the story behind the three different kingdoms.
In the game you have to take control of one of the kingdoms and build you own regime, in doing this you will have to develop new technologies, create a might army that can beat anyone and attempt to gain control of the other two kingdoms territories.

The actual campaigns that you will do in the mission stages are based on real events in history so you might learn something along the way.
The graphics in the game are good but can become a little dull if you are looking at them form a long period of time, in saying this the game missions and skirmish modes to take a long time to complete so this is one of the games down falls. The music ion the game is not great but it suites the period and fits in nicely with the surroundings of the game.

The game play is good apart from the major problem of unless you have a massive army that is about 4 times the size of your opponents then you are likely to fail in your conquer attempt.

After going through all of the bad points in the game after completing it I felt that it was not that bad and have gone back in skirmishes and playing online. The game is a good RTS but does not compete with other classics such as Red Alert 2 or Age of empire 2.

If you are a RTS fan such as my self this one is worth a look, but if you prefer more traditions games then try the demo out first. How every is you are looking for your first real time strategy purchase then this is a good title to go for.

Comments
So to summarise the game is good graphically but can become a little dull if your donāt send out regular attacks on your opponents. The music is good and fits the game well.

Now the game itself will last a fairly long time, as there are many different ways of winning missions and skirmishes. In my view this one is worth a look.
