TVG gets down and dirty as we take a look at the differences between the Warriors...

Having taken a First Look at the title earlier in the year Rockstarās adaptation of the movie cult-classic, The Warriors, shows every sign of evolving the brawler genre in the way weād hope for.

The Warriors throws up a surprising amount of depth, variety and sophistication when it comes to combat, with each of the characters introducing vastly different styles such as Ajax brutal brawling or Cochiseās style-based, Martial Arts approach. Itās open-ended structure, cinematic presentation and depth of gameplay provides an exciting blend, as today TVG takes a look at the different dynamics on offer from all of the nine Warriors that feature within the game.

Cochise

A fighter dripping with natural style, Cochise displays a fluidity in his fighting that is rivaled by none and feared by all. Raised up in Harlem - The Boppers territory - his family moved down to Coney Island where he sought out The Warriors and proved to them he would be a valuable addition to their set. Cochise understands that The Warriors need to stick together if they want to survive and itās this level headedness that has gained him the respect and trust of his fellow Warriors.

Cowboy

Acting as a rock-solid supporting player, Cowboy is a trustworthy soldier who would back up any of his brothers in a brawl. His lack of charisma is made up for in reliability and determination. Not to be underestimated, Cowboy can get real heavy given the right set of tools, and heās very capable of dishing out a serious beating to almost anyone he squares off with. He was brought into the Warriors along with Swan when Cleon invited the two of them to join up and has been sporting the vest and cracking heads ever since.

Ajax

Arguably the heaviest brawler in The Warriors, Ajax is a trash talking pugilist with a sparkplug temper. He proudly wears his cocky attitude on his sleeve like a badge of honor and is more than happy to be an instigator. He will always respond fists first, never holding back or restraining himself. Ajax also has a weakness for women, although he often has trouble expressing himself the way a gentleman ought to. Ajax talks a big game and is quick to provide a snide remark to friends and foes alike; but in an all out brawl the rest of the Warriors are glad heās on their side.

Vermin

Vermin is a true soldier. Heās been with The Warriors from day one and always has their best interests in mind. Vermin can brawl and has a unique way of combining chaos and order in his fighting style. With some of the most devastating attacks of any of the Warriors, Vermin is a force to be reckoned with. Although he can be a bit of a pessimist, Verminās most compelling characteristic is the ability to put a smile on the face of his fellow Warriors.

Fox

A walking encyclopedia of street knowledge, Fox was orphaned at a young age and was forced to fend for himself and survive out on the streets. He knows NYC like the back of his hand - from the back alleys of Chinatown to the less than friendly hideaways of East Harlem. Fox is very level headed and his ego never gets the best of him. Initially, some of The Warriors were hesitant about Foxās brawling skills, but these concerns were quickly put to rest during his initiation. Foxās keen eye and cool head help balance out the Warriorsā ultra heavy set.

Rembrandt

The youngest of the gang, Rembrandt, is a writer that tries to put up Warriors tags wherever he can. When marching on enemy turf, Rembrandt snuffs out every piece of other gang graffiti he sees with a quick and simple red āW.ā Snuffing a rival gangās tag with a throw up takes guts. It is an extreme form of disrespect. From The Big C.I. to the Upper West Side the Warriors mark is well-known. Not being limited to throw-ups, Rembrandtās reputation as a true writer precedes him ā“ he is highly respected for tagging buildings and trains, and heās got a special burner he lays down for the Warriors.

Although Rembrandt is a little soft around the edges, donāt confuse his slight stature for weakness; the Warriors would never roll with someone they considered to be a liability. Rembrandt isnāt afraid to get into the thick of it and bust some heads by using spraying spray paint in the face of an enemy. Although he is cautious, he still gets wrecked from time to time. The important thing is that Rembrandt keeps getting up. All the Warriors know that this kid earned his vest, and from rumble to rumble, Rembrandt continues to prove that he can stand up with the best of them.

Cleon

As Warlord, Cleon is the leader who must remain rock solid at all times. His seriousness adds balance to the blend of personalities in the gang. Known for his leopard-print head dress and lethal elbows, Cleon is always prepared to stand his ground - even if it means getting wasted by a group of overanxious Riffs hell-bent on revenge. Raised on the streets of Coney, he doesnāt show much emotion, but his quickness never leaves much time to second guess his next decision. Cleon is determined to make a name for the Warriors by proving to every other gang in the city that they are the heaviest set around. From his humble beginnings to his untimely end, Cleon stays true to himself, his home and his crew.

Swan

Swan is Cleonās second in command, making him the acting War Chief during the long walk home. Hard and focused, Swan is a man of few words who chooses to express himself through fist clenching moments of awkward silence. When he does speak, itās immediately understood why he is Cleonās worthy successor as leader of the Warriors. He is well built and relies on an equal balance of raw strength, level headedness and technique. When the Punks ambush the Warriors in Union Square, Swan makes sure to throw the last guy through the bathroom stall door, leaving the Punk head first in the toilet.

A mix between kung-fu and refined street brawling, Swan commands instant respect; youād never find him lipping off or getting too hot-headed when the heat is on. Using his instinct, he leads the Warriors back to Coney Island, constantly negotiating the finer details of a well thought through plan. Wanted by the Rogues and hunted by the Riffs, Swan does everything he can to get the Warriors back to Coney without getting wasted.

Snow

A good fighter with plenty of moves, Snow can handle both the Punks and the Furies. Quiet, calm and rational, he can hang tough in any fight. His massive strength is matched by his loyalty to the gang - he doesnāt want to see anyone get wrecked. A trusted member of the Warriors, Snow accompanies the delegates to the meeting with Cyrus because he is the Warriors heavy muscle, tested and proven many times before. A skilled fighter, Snow employs combos and power moves with a punishing effect and can be trusted to take on any number of opponents, dealing them off with lethal efficiency.
