Ubisoft confirm a third title in the popular stealth series...
Given the success of Splinter Cell and its sequel Pandora Tomorrow, it comes of no surprise to learn today that Ubisoft have confirmed the development of Splinter Cell 3.
Already deep into development at UbiSoft Montreal, after having taken a breather and allowing UbiSoft Shanghai to develop Pandora Tomorrow; Splinter Cell 3 will continue to push the boundaries and offer a completely immersive and interactive environment, innovative gameplay and a completely unique collaborative multiplayer experience.
Set in 2008, where Information Warfare has evolved into the most dangerous threat to global stability. You as Sam Fisher are assigned to execute a hazardous series of operations to investigate and eliminate a new source of information attacks, originating in North Korea.
As Information Warfare evolves so must Splinter Cell; you must penetrate deeper into hostile territory and operate undetected, closer to the enemy then ever before. At your disposal come a number of new tactics, including Combat Knife techniques, experimental prototype weapons and improved melee combat such as the inverted chokehold and the ability to perform stealth kills.
A number of improvements are being made to the third title in the series, including an all-new graphics engine to deliver ānever-before-seenā graphics technology, whilst an improved physics engine allows rag-doll physics, particle effects and perfect integration with the environment.
Whilst the game will offer a similar multiplayer experience to Pandora Tomorrow, two players can also take on the main game in a new Co-Op mode; however specific details on this are being kept a secret for the time being.
UbiSoft promise huge improvements to the AI featured within the game, so now the mindless grunts will become more convincing, resulting in more natural behaviour that sees them aware of the environment and being able to remember past events.
Weāll have more information soon.
