Drive fast, outrun the law in EA`s latest Need for Speed title.
The Need for Speed franchise has been doing the rounds for quite awhile now, none better then the pivotal 3DO version. Whilst the games arenât the greatest racers youâll find, the chance to drive fast in some of the worlds most beautiful motors whilst evading the cops is an alluring prospect for many gamers.
Need for Speed 3: Hot Pursuit 2 is the latest title in the franchise, once again youâll have the chance to drive some of the finest cars around, including the likes of the BMW M5, BMW Z8, Ferrari 360 Spider, Ferrari F50, Porsche Turbo, Porsche Carrera GT, Chevrolet Corvette Z06, and Lamborghini Murcielago, all of which have been faithfully recreated with stunning detail and some superb environmental mapping to really show of the sheen. These cars look good and youâll want to keep them that way. Youâll need to push each to its limits, using every ounce of horsepower to outrun the law, as they use every trick in the book including helicopter chases and stingers alongside the traditional high-speed chases.
The game is set to feature over 12 courses over a variety of challenging environments, some of which include extreme weather conditions-hurricanes, tornadoes, blizzards and downpours. The game challenges the driver to dodge traffic, police and natural elements in high speed and high style⦠true NFS style. Evade any cops encountered, as getting busted just might end your career.
The AI for the opponent racers and the police will further immerse you into the ultimate exotic car fantasy where you can drive these cars at their limit or get caught trying. Opponent racers and the police have distinct and unique driving styles challenging the player to learn arrest patterns in order to beat the cops and win the race. Cops will even be given different personalities that the player will learn to recognize.
The power of the PS2 has allowed the developers to create larger environments, so races are no longer just stuck to the road. Need for Speed 3: Hot Pursuit 2 allows you to leave the tarmac and search for off-road shortcuts that should bear a familiarity to anyone who has seen Smokey & The Bandit.
The games 60 events are evenly split between a championship mode and a hot pursuit mode. Both events involve a branching system, which extends depending on your performance. Winning events rewards the player with new cars, tracks, upgrades, paint jobs, game modes and Easter eggs.
