NBA moves to the Playstation2.
EA Sports are currently working on a number of quality sport games for the PlayStation 2, each and everyone of them looks simply stunning.
NBA Live 2001 will feature a very a high polygon count for all the player models. Using a new technology created by EA the game will be able to create detailed player heads and lifelike skin textures that will help make NBA Live 2001 the most realistic basketball game created.
The motion capture in the game is handled by Kevin Garnett, who plays for the Minnesota Timberwolves. He was captured performing a number of dunks, moves that will all be features during the game. The overall animation in the game is expected to be very high as EA spent a lot of time re-creating what we see during a TV and match and what we will play on the PlayStation 2. A special amount of attention is being put into making sure the general feeling of contact and battling for position is a very strong feature to the game.
NBA Live 2001 will feature a unique rewards system that will reward players for playing the game and battling through the various features available. Once the players hard earned enough rewards for completing certain tasks, they will be able to un-lock the awards for example new championship teams, Create-a-player and loads more.
The sound will be a key part in the production of NBA Live 2001, the developers are taking a new approach, as it should have greatly improved speech and sound effects, taken straight from real matches around America. Players will be shouting out comments to help create a more intelligent and professional game. EA Sports will also capture a number of sound files from crowds to create that outstanding atmosphere.
NBA Live 2001 is slated for a fall 2000 release, and it will change the way we look at any future Sports titles of this type.
