Mr Moskeeto Review

Fresh FROM Japan, home of the keenest gamers in the world, comes an original and challenging new gaming concept.
Playing the role of a Mosquito (the game is actually spelt Mr Moskeeto) you need to suck as much blood from humans as possible without being slapped or crushed.
Fresh Games was set up by Eidos Interactive to bring original Japanese titles to the Western world, itās not unusual to see Japaneseās games staying in Japan, their style is someone different from what Western gamers expect. However Fresh Games have seen a niche so lets see if their games hit the spot.
You are Mr Moskeeto, an uninvited guest in the Yamada family home. In order to store up enough food for the coming winter, you will need to drink as much of their precious blood as possible while they are in bed, talking on the phone, watching TV, or even taking a bath. Deadly insecticides fill the air and members of the family have the ability to crush you like a bug. So the game is set, using the PlayStation 2ās well designed Dual Shock 2 controller you need to control Mr Moskeeto using precious movements and actions to attack the humans allowing you to suck their blood.
The gameplay is very simple and somewhat restricting, each level puts you in a new room where you need to suck a certain amount of blood from one of the Yamada family members. The game starts of in the Yamadaās daughters room where you need to suck two containers full of blood, unfortunately the game doesnāt have a training mission so for those of you that donāt read manuals you will find it hard to start. Eventually after battling through the manuals the controls become clear; the left analogue stick is used to control the direction of Mr Moskeeto, whilst the right is used to control the more accurate movements and to allow you to start sucking blood. Each human has a ā Blood Sucking Point ā and this changes on each new level, for example you may be required to suck blood from the victims foot, leg, arms or upper body. Once you have found the point which can be quite hard at times youāll need to lock on with your direction, once everything goes green you can launch an attack using the Circle button. Mr Moskeeto will then fly down to the point and sit on the persons skin, using the right analogue stick you then need to click it in which will cause Mr Moskeeto to stick his needle style nose into the victims skin. Lastly you will then need to spin the left analogue stick round in a 360-degree motion causing you to pump blood out, if everything goes well youāll be pumping blood like no tomorrow, however as the blood meter goes up so does the risk. If you wait to long on the victims skin they will notice you are there and start to attack you, if you are unlucky you will be entered into a Battle Mode where the human will try to slap you about, to stop this mode you need to hit pressure points on the human. As you progress though the game you will unlock new rooms, and new colours for Mr Moskeeto.
The game was originally launched in Japan a while ago now, this is apparent in the games graphics, as they are certainly not that impressive compared to games we are seeing today. The rooms are rather dull and uninspiring; Western gamers might expect more from the games they purchase on their PlayStation 2. However like most puzzle games this one is all about fun and not the eye-candy, for those of you that want a little bit of humour and something different you might just find this one addictive.
